In an effort to bring more attention to the AIDS/HIV epidemic, R&B crooner [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher [/lastfm]decided to “resurrect” himself from the “digital dead.” [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher[/lastfm] “died” a “digital death” to support Keep a Child Alive’s “Buy Life” fundraising campaign to fight HIV/AIDS in India and Africa last week.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher[/lastfm] came back from the “digital dead” long before he was supposed to.
He made a promise to “digitally die” till the organization reached a goal of one million dollars; he came “back to life” with the organization having reached only$700,000.
Usher signed off from Facebook and Twitter on World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) last week, vowing to quit social networking until “Buy Life” had raised a total of $1 million.
With the organizations not having met that one million dollar goal, Usher took to social networking sites to ask for donations as well as support.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher[/lastfm] who did not mention coming back from the “digital dead” also tweeted about other issues and circumstances in his life.
Other celebrities have “come back to life from a digital death”. They include: Kim Kardashian and Ryan Seacrest. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] has also reportedly come back from her “digital death.” They came back in efforts to raise money as well as awareness. Their messages have asked followers to donate $10 so that they can come back to “digital life”.
