Eldest son of reggae legend, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bob Marley[/lastfm],[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ziggy Marley[/lastfm] is set to release a new album in June; Marley composed children’s music back in 2009 in the form of the release, “Family Time.”
Marley’s “Wild and Free,” is reportedly due out June 14 on his family’s Tuff Gong Worldwide label.
Marley recorded “Wild and Free” in Los Angeles with producer Don Was and a group of musicians that included bassist Darryl Johnson from the group [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rolling Stones[/lastfm].
Additional guests included actor Woody Harrelson on the title track; Harrelson was used for California’s Proposition 19 campaign to legalize recreational marijuana.
Legendary hip hop star [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Heavy D[/lastfm] also makes an appearance on the project as well.
With the new release being introspective for Marley, a variety of themes are evident in the project including global awareness as well as social and group revolutions.
Marley has several concert dates booked already this year and plans an extensive campaign to promote “Wild and Free” this year as well as into the year 2012.
