Iconic performer and entertainer [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beyoncé[/lastfm] will be honored with Billboard Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards; the announcement was made earlier this week. She will receive the honor at the May 22 show, which will air on ABC, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Billboard Millennium Award will recognize [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beyoncé[/lastfm]‘s achievements, successes as well as her influence in the music industry.

The former frontwoman of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Destiny’s Child[/lastfm] was previously named “Woman of the Year” in October 2009, and “Top Female Artist of the Decade” in December 2009.

The award will come on the heels of the megastar finishing her fourth studio album, due out later this year. The album, whose debut single “Run the World (Girls)” premiered in late April of this year.
