Money Saving Monday: Make Your Own Sandwiches For Lunch
On today’s Money Saving Monday, we tell you a news story from News 14 about how you can save a lot of money each year by preparing your own lunch for work instead of opting to eat with coworkers at a restaurant.
I found this story from Time Warner’s News 14 that puts saving money on your own sack lunches in perspective. Let’s say you spend around $10 on lunch each day for 5 days a week. That means you will be spending almost $2,600 a year just on going out to each lunch with coworkers!!!
In the study that they ran, a family bought the bread, meats, and even pepperoncini for their sandwiches at a local deli. The total came out to be on average $1.87 as opposed to the $10 you spend going out to eat lunch.
And remember to be frugal with your sides in bringing lunch to work. Cost Cut buy either buying a variety pack or a big bag of chips and save that bag for future lunches that week. Vending machines can be very expensive for just one item!
It is nice to have the convenience of going through a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant or having a delivery person show up to your front door with dinner. But, with some prep work, you can knock out an easy dinner for you and your family in less than 30 minutes or less!
But don’t go crazy and eat every day at work with your lunch pail. You can splurge every now and then at a restaurant just so you don’t go insane making lunch every day for yourself.
