The charges continue to pile up on James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond. The hip-hop mogul, who was recently found guilty on 13 counts for overseeing a drug distributing operation, has been charged with arranging the murder of a 50 Cent cohort.
Rosemond was charged with planning the 2009 murder of Lowell Fletcher in retaliation for an assault on Jimmy Henchman’s son, the New York Times reports. The CEO of Czar Entertainment, who once managed the Game, was one of six men charged for conspiring to kill Fletcher.
A seventh man was charged with firearms and narcotics offenses, but not the murder of Fletcher, who was shot to death on the evening of September 27, 2009 in the Bronx.
Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney in Manhattan, said Rosemond and his team “operated like a mini-gang, allegedly committing a revenge killing, and a host of drug and firearms offenses.”
Rosemond was convicted on June 5 for heading up an intricate drug operation in which he used music industry channels to ship drugs across the country.
“This has not been a good month for Jimmy the Henchman,” said New York police commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, in a statement. —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
