Jay-Z’s ‘Made In America’ festival is shaping up to be the musical event of the year. Now Run-D.M.C., Drake, Jill Scott, and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell have been added to an already star packed line-up.
The festival had previously announced performances by D’Angelo, Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group Group crew, Skrillex, Pearl Jam, Odd Future, and Jigga himself. There are also rumors that pop icon Madonna will make a surprise appearance.
The addition of Run-D.M.C., seminal ‘80’s rap giants, will be the first performance for members Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels since the 2002 murder of their beloved DJ, Jam Master Jay. Run-D.M.C. will also make an appearance at the Austin Texas’ Fun Fun Fun Fest in early November.
The Labor Day weekend shows, which will take place in Philadelphia on September 1 and 2 at the Parkway. Single-day tickets for the Jay-Z curated event will go on sale at noon Friday. Prices will start at $75 and tickets (including two-day passes) will be made available through Ticketmaster.com. —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
