Chapter V, the new album from Trey Songz hits retailers tomorrow. His fifth project is a diverse collection of provocative baby-making tunes to sensitive explorations of regret and lost love.

Songz has full command over this experience.  He vocally sets the mood and quickly whisks you away proving he can effortlessly sing just about anything.

“Dive In” submerges the listener in a playful sensuality. Songz’s vocal talents are undeniable on this track. From there the self proclaimed “Panty Wetter” continues to coax the ladies out of their clothes until you reach “Heart Attack;” the album’s lead single.  This banger maintains the same resonance that it had the first time that I heard it.

“Pretty Girls Lie” unfolds with a ghostly intensity. The ballad is fragile and very beautiful. You can hear the Kellz influence in this one; yet Songz skillfully makes it his.

Tracks like “Bad Decisions” and “Without a Woman” communicate the artist’s innate maturity.

As Chapter V progresses it adopts a sensibility that reaches beyond the physical; the songs invite an experience.

Overall Chapter V has something for everyone. Trey Songz brilliantly belts out another great album. I look forward to the next stage of his journey.
