The Democratic National Convention left Charlotte with many vibrant memories. There were tons of people and things to do over the week-long event. Security was high along with the energy and expectations of the convention. The QC proudly entertained guests from all around the country.

Let’s take a look back at some of the memorable highlights of the politically charged week.

The EpiCenter

The EpiCenter became a media hub as CNN, MSNBC, and PBS became temporary residents of the uptown venue. MSNBC took over the central courtyard with tons of signage and a huge stage where the public was able to catch live broadcasts. CNN opened their CNN Grill where celebs like Rosario Dawson were spotted chowing down. Acclaimed interviewer and journalist, Charlie Rose also held his program at the entertainment mecca.

Protests

This is what makes our country great! Many groups, both for and against the Democratic Party, expressed their opinions on the streets of uptown Charlotte. Activists were seen throughout the week speaking out in support of numerous causes.

The Convention Center on Thursday

Due to the unpredictability of the weather that week, the Thursday night festivities were moved from Bank of America Stadium to Time Warner Cable Arena, ultimately turning away thousands of would-be-attendees with community credentials. The disappointed masses were invited to the Charlotte Convention Center to watch. Despite the difference in location, the Convention Center boasted the same vivacious energy that filled the Arena.

The American Presidential Experience

This mobile museum was in town until Saturday, September 8. So there was plenty of time to brush up on your US history while taking a tour on a replica of Air Force One and the Oval Office. V101.9’s favorite home-girl, Chirl, got a chance to see the tented facility celebrating the American presidency.
