V101.9 continues our salute to some of the greatest musical artists of our time as Black History Month continues. Today the honor goes to Prince Rogers Nelson. Music would be his life early on as he penned his first song at the age of seven and years after would form a band with his cousins. Prince would eventually sign with Warner Bros. Records and release his first album in 1978. Success would follow him with formations of the groups, ‘The Revolution’ ,’New Power Generation’ and a solo career. All together he would eclipse album sales of more than 100 million. Prince’s musical awards include several Grammys, an Academy Award and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
