Spring has arrived, summer waits just around the corner, and those New Year Resolutions you made to get in shape in 2013 have become a thing of the past, right? Wrong!

No more excuses! The time is now to change your life! Let’s take back our health.

The key is to make your changes a permanent amendment to your lifestyle.

Check out five easy ways to get started on your weight loss path to Glory!

1. Learn To Cook Healthy

Everyone knows that preparing a meal yourself is much healthier than opting to eat out. However, many women-on- the-go consider cooking healthy an enormous task because they simply don’t know how to do it. Look for a cooking class at your local recreation center, church, or community college — and don’t forget online resources like Youtube. Tutorial anyone? Cooking your own meals is the easiest way to regulate what you’re putting in your body, not to mention the euphoria from creating your own cuisine is also pretty great.

2. Plan

Weight loss doesn’t happen by accident unless you become ill. So if you’re not campaigning for the flu, you have to have a plan. Map out your meals each day and take nothing for granted. If you know you’re going shopping bring along a small bag of almonds or a piece of fruit to munch on in case you need a snack. I guarantee it’ll beat the calorie count of anything you find in the food court.

3. Prepare Your Meals In Advance

This goes along with planning. Don’t wait until the last minute to get your meals together. Prepare them in advance. If you can prepare your meals on Sunday or at least the night before you can avoid indulging on the wrong foods.

4. Purge Your Pantry

Let’s face it losing weight takes a lot of will-power and you’re not going to help your situation with chocolate, sugary, slices of temptation laying around. You have to purge your pantry. Remove all temptation from your home. Chances are that if you buy it and it’s lying around the house you’re going to eat it.

5. Get Up Off The Couch!

Exercise is just as important as eating right when losing weight. If you’re not into heart pounding sprints or heavy weights, start with a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Pilates and Yoga are a low impact favorite. Most gyms also offer classes like Zumba and Hip Hop Aerobics to help shed those love handles. Being active not only helps you take the pounds off, but it’s also good for your mental health. Exercise stimulates endorphin production which often leaves gym enthusiasts with a “high” after working out. Could exercise be the road to happiness? Give it a try and find out!
