This morning I thought out loud, that our body should be treated much like when we go to the grocery store…work with me on this. I’ve always heard, and our very own Chef Cordell confirmed, that when you shop you should really stick to the outside walls…you know that’s where all the “good foods” are…they usually pack all the processed “goodies” in the center aisles.  So, my 5am revelation was to look at our bodies and consider that our heads and our feet are the outside walls. If something isn’t working with either of them, it has a major effect on our other parts…our GOODIES!!  I didn’t say the two thoughts made sense…that’s what happens after only 4-hours sleep (I’ll save that for another blog).

Anyway, did you know that neglecting your teeth could lead to heart disease? That if you lost one of your toes, you’d have to learn to walk all over again? With this in mind, I wanted to start a series and call it “Head 2 Toes…and all the goodies in the middle” and talk about little things we can do every day to be better, look better and feel better.

Let’s start at the bottom of the top…our MOUTHS. According to Harvard Health Publications “Oral bacteria could also harm blood vessels or cause blood clots by releasing toxins that resemble proteins found in artery walls or the bloodstream. The immune system’s response to these toxins could harm vessel walls or make blood clot more easily. It is also possible that inflammation in the mouth revs up inflammation throughout the body, including in the arteries, where it can lead to heart attack and stroke.”

Should I tell you now that I’ve been walking around with a nasty toothache for months?  I say months because saying a year or even writing that down would reveal something about me that I’m just not prepared to let you all in on…yet.  Okay, so I have a major fear of dentist and crappy dental insurance, I said it. Moving on…

The truly sad part of this connection with mouth and heart is that I have been having a lot of inflammation due to my accident. It’s been slow to heal and now the light bulb is shining over my really big head telling me that maybe, possible, it’s all connected…like my body.  Oh, I do hate it when I cover up my intelligent mind with stupid actions, or lack thereof.  Well, I guess there is a trip to the dentist in my future. #$%$^(&%#!

What are you going to do this week? I did mention that this is a group project right? You do things, I do things…we start feeling better, looking better sharing pictures of our better parts. Enough reading…let’s go.
