Another season has come to an end and it’s time to turn our attention to cooler weather and all the great things that come with it. Before we totally say goodbye to summer let’s take a look at what was another few months of unforgettable releases.
It was another spectacular summer of great R&B music from some of the best artists in the industry. We heard from both veterans and rising stars who graced us with hot summer uptempo jams as well as smooth R&B ballads.
The following are some of the best R&B albums of summer 2013. Joe released his tenth studio album, Doubleback: The Evolution of R&B in July. It featured the hit “I’d Rather Have a Love” and his current release with Fantasia, “Love and Sex.”
TGT made up of the trio of Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank made a splash this summer by releasing the much anticipated album Three Kings in August. The hit “Sex Never Felt Better” and latest release “I Need You” showcased their talents.
Late summer releases came from the likes of John Legend with Love In the Future, Tamar Braxton’s Love and War and Jaheim’s Appreciation Day. The biggest release this summer no doubt goes to Robin Thicke. His album and single “Blurred Lines” topped all the major charts with the single setting records in numerous ways including downloads and weeks spent at number one.
The year is far from over and if you’re a big music fan, be on the lookout for some major releases this fall. R&B is alive and well!
