Prior to her days of fearlessly leading a team of “Gladiators in Suits,” Kerry Washington thrilled her fans in feature films on the big screen.

Her success as a film star made Kerry a celebrated star as she shot out of the stratosphere with her performance on the crazy-sexy-good hit show, Scandal.

As the highly anticipated season premiere of this Shondaland creation looms near, fans of the show (like myself!) are finding the wait to be absolutely excruciating!

Well, fellow Gladiators, in order to tide us over until Olivia Pope once again sashays down the halls of the justice, or should I say relative justice, here are ten films starring Scandal’s lead actress Kerry Washington!

Washington received critical acclaim alongside Jamie Foxx as his wife in the 2004 biopic, Ray.

Night Catches Us

In this underrated indie flick, Washington performs alongside frequent collaborator, Anthony Mackie, as two former Black Panthers finding their way in the late 70’s.

Lakeview Terrace

In this thriller, Washington is one half of an inter-racial married couple being tormented by a deranged neighbor, played by Samuel L. Jackson.

The Last King of Scotland

Kerry Washington, Forest Whitaker, and James McAvoy transport audiences to 1970’s Uganda under dictatorship of Idi Amin.

The United States of Leland

Washington has a supporting role in this 2003 indie alongside Hollywood heavy weights Ryan Gosling, Don Cheadle, and Kevin Spacey.

Our Song

Washington’s first feature film, Our Song, follows three friends as they deal with life, love, responsibility, and their pending futures.

Django Unchained

Washington once again plays the wife of Jamie Foxx in this 2012 western, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Fantastic Four

Before becoming a Gladiator, Washington aligned herself with another group of super-heroes in the Fantastic Four. Washington plays blind sculptor, Alicia Masters.

For Colored Girls

Washington joined an ensemble cast including Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, and Kimberly Elise for the film adaptation of For Colored Girls.

I Think I Love My Wife

Washington plays the role of a seductive temptress in this 2007 romantic comedy starring Chris Rock.

Catch Scandal this Thursday at 10:00pm and stop by V101.9 on Friday for our Scandal Rundown; where we highlight the hottest moments from the show!
